JAMMU, June 6: Rich tributes were paid to Haji Buland Khan, the veteran Gujjar leader and former vice-chairman of J&K Gujjar Bakerwal Advisory Board on his fourth death anniversary here today.
In this connection, a largely attended function was organised by J&K Tribal United Forum (TUF), which was presided over by its chief, Roshan Din Choudhary.
Recalling the services and sacrifices of Haji Buland Khan, the speakers termed him as a great visionary and a dynamic personality. They said, “Khan was a man of high qualities and tolerance. He was a good administrator with innate ability to connect masses and leading them to fight for their legitimate rights”.
While paying tributes to Khan, Roshan Din Choudhary said Haji Buland Khan was legendary reformer, who strived hard for the socio-economic development and the education of the children belonging to deprived sections.
He further said that to bring revolution in Gujjar and Bakerwal community, there is dire need to work on the policies and ideologies of late Haji Buland Khan.
Tanvir Ahmed, Er Khursheed UI Islam, Advocate Anwar Chowdhary, Prof Arif Sajad, Dr Romesh Kaith, Er Shah Mohd, Chowdhary Mohd Shafi, Shafeeq and many others paid homage to the departed soul.
Speaking on the occasion, general secretary, TUF, Dr Zabeer Ahmed Bajjar, said that Haji Buland Khan will always be remembered for his lifetime struggle for the upliftment of poor and downtrodden people particularly of Gujjar and Bakerwal community.
The programme concluded with special prayers (Fateh Khawani) performed for the departed soul.
