JAMMU, Mar 2: The renowned national and international debater-mooter, Ankita Sharma- a daughter of soil once again brought laurels to country as well as Union Territory by leading her moot team and secured win in the prestigious 7th Professor NR Madhava Menon Asian Mooting Competition-2021-22.
Ankita Sharma, daughter of Advocate Adarsh Sharma is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s in Law and Business Administration from National Law University Shimla. Her team comprising herself along with Ishaan Singh Jain, Rohit Kumar Jain and Siddhidatri Jha emerged winners in the Asian round and qualified for the Indian Round.
The team also bagged the ‘Best Memorial Award’ of the mega competition and participated in the Asian Jural Conclave.
The event previously known as the ‘South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Law Mooting Competition, this year participation was extended all over Asia and was participated by the best teams from varied Asian countries who won and qualified their respective national rounds.
The moot proposition of the Asian round centred on the theme of International Commercial Investment and Human Rights Laws arising dispute before the International Court of Justice.
The ‘Nepal Law Campus Tribhuvan University’ emerged as the runner-up team, the team HPNLU, Shimla led by Ankita represented India before an esteemed bench of five sitting judges namely Justice Arjuna Obeyesekere (Judge Supreme Court of Sri Lanka), Justice Pankaj Bhandari (Judge High Court of Rajasthan), Justice Ravi Nath Tilhari (Judge High Court of Andhra Pradesh), Justice Amit Bansal (Judge High Court of Delhi) and Justice CS Dias (Judge High Court of Kerala).
