KATHUA, Mar 3: Department of Environmental Sciences and Ravi Eco Club of Government Degree College Kathua organised a field trip and interaction programme for students and members of the Club at Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary in collaboration with Department of Wildlife Protection and Institute of Mountain Environment, University of Jammu, here today.
A total of 31 students of Ravi Eco Club participated in the field trip.
Principal GDC Kathua, Prof Rajkiran flagged off the trip to Jasrota and encouraged the students to reap the maximum benefit from the field visit.
The students visited the various locations and observed many wild species like wild boar, barking deer and a variety of avifauna inside the sanctuary. “An interaction/technical session with participants was also organized at Jasrota Training Centre wherein Dr Ravi Verma, Wildlife Warden Kathua discussed the various species of plants and animals present in the Sanctuary and the conservation efforts of Forest Department J&K in ecosystem restoration.”
Dr. Neeraj Sharma Head of Institute of Mountain Environment gave a detailed presentation on the various techniques used in the census of various species.
Dr Deepshikha Sharma, convener of the Club coordinated the event, while Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Prof. Surbhi Gupta, Prof. Neeru Sharma, Prof. Rupali Nanda and Prof Nisha Bhagat were part of the field trip.
