UT level Cricket tourney concludes

JAMMU, Mar 3: Jammu Dare Devils emerged winners of the UT level Cricket tournament by defeating Kashmir Rising Stars and lifted the title, organised by J&K Police, here today.
DGP Dilbag Singh was chief guest of the closing ceremony who distributed prizes/ trophies among the winner and runner up teams in presence of Special DG CID, RR Swain, ADGPs, HK Lohia, SJM Gillani, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, T Namgyal, Mukesh Singh, Sunil Kumar, Director ACB, J&K, Anand Jain, Brigadier (retd) Anil Gupta, Administrator JKCA, Sunil Sethi, Member of JKCA, SSP PCR, Jammu, Commandants of Jammu based battalions, AIGs of PHQ, and other officers.
The DGP while speaking on the occasion appreciated the ADGP Armed and his team and associated members for organizing the event successfully. He congratulated the winning and runner ups teams and advised them to rejuvenate their energy to further polish their skills to perform at higher levels of competitions. “J&K Police is your own police and we will always be there to assist and support you”, the DGP added.
He said that the Police is always ready to guide and assist youth to excel in different sports and congratulated Sadia Tariq who won Gold medal in Wushu Starts Championship at Moscow.
“Soon after the 2nd wave of COVD -19, the J&K Police organized mega sports events including cricket tournaments across the UT wherein 50 to 60 thousands youth of J&K participated in these events,” the DGP said. Terming the participating teams as ambassadors of peace, Singh said that sport is a tool to promote peace, tolerance and understanding and bring people together across cultures and regions.
He said that enemies of peace are making continuous attempts to create disturbance in J&K and added that it is our collective responsibility to foil their evil intentions. Pakistan and its agencies are continuously attempting to launch terror modules here and Police and CAPFs have exposed dozens of such modules so far, he said and adding that during last year around 85 terror modules involved grenade throwing, civilian killings and other different terror activities were busted.
Earlier, the ADGP Armed in his welcome address threw light on the importance of organizing the tournament. He said that JK Police is focusing to make a single team in which best performers of all the teams will be selected, adding that they in future will be representing J&K at different State and national level tournaments.
Trophies and Cash rewards were presented to the winner/ runner-up teams/players. Rs 51,000 cash prize was presented to the winning team, while Rs 31,000 was presented to Kashmir Rising Stars (Runner-up team of the tournament) and Rs 10000 was presented to Kamalpreet Singh of Jammu Dare Devils as man of the tournament), besides Rs 7000 was given to Zubaid Rashid of Kashmir Rising Stars (Best Batsman).
In addition, Rs 7000 cash prize was awarded to Athar Farooq as best bowler of the tournament, while Rs 2000 each were presented to man of the all the matches.
