JAMMU, Aug 18: In the backdrop of collapse of a wall of historic Bahu Fort, Socialistic Democratic Party (SDP) today reiterated its demand of taking over of Bahu Fort-Kali Mata Temple by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB).
The party alleged that wall of the Fort collapsed due to poor management.
Addressing a press conference here today, provincial president, Deepu Singh Manhas raised questions on poor management of the Historic Fort and demanded that the Fort be immediately taken over by SMVDSB.
He maintained that according to his sources the concerned department had sanctioned an amount of Rs 71 lakh for maintenance of washrooms, electricity and whitewash but JDA claims only Rs 17 lakh. It is difficult to understand that how Rs 17 lakh was released when the work costs approximately 5-6 lakh,  he added.
Manhas said that a proper inquiry should be held on the sanctioned amount so that the guilty could be punished. He also demanded to form a committee of few senior professionals to look after the construction work of entire area for now and always so that proper work can take place under the supervision of professionals.
General secretary, Ajay Kumar also interacted with the media and demanded that either the Fort be taken over by SMVDSB or developed as a new shrine.
