Kaw, Rasool guide Sachdeva Leopards to emphatic win

BIJBEHARA, Aug 19: Opening batsman Vimarsh Kaw scored magnificent 54 runs, while Asif Rasool displayed superb all-round performance to help Sachdeva Leopards script an emphatic 25-run victory over Saifco Lions in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) at Higher Secondary School Ground, here today.
Earlier, batting first Sachdeva Leopards, riding on superb half-century by Vimarsh Kaw and good knocks from Asif Khan (37) and Asif Rasool (34) made a decent total of 167 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Vimarsh, in particular was in fabulous touch and hit 3 massive sixes in his power-packed knock. For Saifco Lions, Mehraj took 3 wickets, Suhail Andleeb bagged 2, while Rohit Sharma and Sahil Bhalwal claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Saifco Lions managed to score 142 runs in the allotted overs, despite some good contributions from Majid Bhat (52) and skipper Fayaz Hazari (38), thus lost the match by 25 runs. Mehraj also contributed 15 runs to the total. For Sachdeva Leopards, Asif Rasool was the pick of the bowlers, scalping 3 wickets, while Muddasir took 2 wickets. Ajaz Hajam also claimed one wicket. Asif Rasool bagged HDFC man of the match award, while Vimarsh Kaw was presented TCI maximum sixes award.
In another match, TCI Cheetahs defeated Cemtac Stars by 3 wickets to consolidate their position in the league.
Batting first, Cemtac Stars bundled out for a paltry total of 91 runs in 19 overs. Huwaid Hamid was the top scorer with 45 runs, while Suhail Ahmed contributed 14 runs to the total. Leg spinner Manik Gupta was the wrecker-in-chief for TCI Cheetahs, who scalped 5 important wickets by conceding just 8 runs in his 3.4 overs. While Adil Mushtaq claimed 2 wickets. Pawan Negi and Umar Nazir also claimed one wicket each.
In reply, TCI Cheetahs reached the required target in 17.4 overs by losing 7 wickets, thus won the match by 3 wickets. Pawan Negi was the top scorer with 27 runs, while Manik Gupta contributed 17 runs to the total. Skipper Majid Dar and Feroz Ahmed chipped in with 9 runs each. Amir Farooq and Imtiyaz Mala bagged 2 wickets each, while Umar Ashraf and Wasim Raza claimed one wicket each. Manik Gupta was adjudged HDFC man of the match, while Huwaid Hamid got the TCI Maximum sixes award.
