Concern over stopping of Machail Mata yatris

JAMMU, Aug 19: The Sarv Shakti Sewak Sanstha which is the managing body of holy Machail Mata Yatra has criticized the Government for not allowing the yatris to proceed towards the holy shrine from various parts of Jammu region and stopping them at the isolated areas.
In a statement issued here today, Dr Deshvir Singh Jamwal chairperson of the Sanstha said that the Sanstha held an emergency meeting here in which grave concern was expressed over the harassment meted out to the pilgrims through the hands of the administration.
He said the Sanstha has received various complaints from the pilgrims that they were not allowed to proceed for yatra and stopped at isolated places on way to Machail which is a grave cause of concern. If the authorities had not to allow yatris to proceed they should have not been allowed to leave from Jammu instead of stopping and harassing them enroute, he added.
The meeting urged the administration to allow the yatris to proceed for darshan as it was the duty of the Government to ensure the security of pilgrims intending to go for yatra.
It said that if the Government is constrained to stop the yatris it should be done at some fixed points where they can have proper arrangements for night haltage etc.
Meanwhile, the administration did not give any relaxation in curfew at Kishtwar during the time of Charri Mubarak of holy Machail Mata passed from the town which has also led to the lot of resentment among the people.
