JAMMU, Mar 13: Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta while reiterating that there will be complete transformation of Jammu city after the completion of Smart City Project, today said many development schemes in the city have been completed while work on others is in progress.
The Mayor, who was addressing a function at Muthi Ghat after inauguration of newly constructed resting room and renovation work of bathroom here, said with the construction of Tawi River Front and its beautification the Jammu city will give a different look and the river front will be an attraction for visitors which will be constructed on the design of Sabarmati river Front of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The function was organised by Samajik Vikas Sansthan which has constructed the Muthi Ghat to facilitate people to perform their religious rites led by Kuldeep Raina its chairman and Shiban Ji Bhan vice chairman.
Chander Mohan Gupta said the Gandola to Maha Maya temple has already been made functional while the border tourism has also been started and work on Jammu Zoo is in progress.
He while responding to the demand of organisers regarding the development of canal bank in Muthi area, said that Rs 24 crore development will be done along the Ranbir Canal bank under the Smart City Project. Besides Rs 25 crore were earmarked for cremation grounds for their renovation and development, he added.
He said the development process is on in the Jammu city while referring to the construction of Canal to Muthi Flyover and four lanning of Akhnoor road, Jammu Ring road, beautification and face lifting of Bagh-e-Bahu etc.
Former MLC Girdhari Lal Raina was the guest of honour on the occasion who also highlighted the development programme of Narendra Modi Government. Suraj Parkash Padha senior BJP leader and corporator also spoke on the occasion. The welcome address was read by chairman of the Sansthan, Kuldeep Raina while vote of thanks was proposed by Ashok Raina representative Pokhribal Srinagar. The stage was managed by Dr Ramesh Bhat. Besides, SVS general secretary, M K Pandita, the function was attended by all members of Sansthan and prominent members of the community.
