KATRA, Aug 20: Reasi District Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with Baba Jitto Development Committee Aghar Jitto organized District Championship in Wrestling at village Aghar Jitto in Reasi, under the over all supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma.
70 wrestlers in six weight categories of 50 kg, 55 Kg, 60 kg, 66 kg, 74 kg and 84 kg from different Akharas and clubs of Reasi District participated in the event which was sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
Director Sports Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, vice president SGFI and retired Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Ashok Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion who presented medals, certificates and gifts to the wrestlers, while Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Baba Mohan Lal Ji Chela of Saheed Baba Jitto, Headmaster Kotli Gopal Krishan, Sarpanch Rattan Singh and retired lecturer Mubarik Singh were the guests of honour.
The overall championship was won by Reasi Akhara while Pouni remain runner up.
Ashok Kumar said that every possible effort will be made for the development of the game of wrestling in the Reasi district.
