Srinagar, Mar 17: The Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department (FCS&CA), Kashmir today conducted market checking in Srinagar during which 6 wholesale poultry establishments were sealed while several others were fined for the violation of norms.
In this regard, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Assistant Director (Enforcement) FCS&CA told Excelsior that after complaints regarding illegal enhancement of rates of poultry and other products, the market checking was conducted by two teams in zones of Srinagar city.
As per details, during the market checking, 72 business establishments were inspected in different areas of Srinagar City such Tengpora, Batamallo, Parimpora, Pinch Mandi, Chattabal, Soura, Buchpora, Eidgah, Nowshera and a penal sum of Rs 8400/- was collected as fine from 9 erring shopkeepers which include Mutton, poultry, Tea Stall, bakery etc.
“Besides, 6 wholesale poultry Establishments stands also sealed for violation of the E.C. Act,” he said.
The officials said that in March so far, in District Srinagar only, 979 business establishments have been checked, among which 162 erring shopkeepers have been penalised with a sum of Rs 1,59,600, while as 11 shops also stand sealed.
“The total fine recovered in all Districts of the Valley during the current year from April to 16 March 2022 is Rupees 5814360.00 (Fifty-Eight lakh fourteen thousand three hundred & sixty) and 93 FIRs lodged against the erring shopkeepers against various offences. Moreover, 400 shops also stand sealed during this period,” the officials said.
The Assistant Director of Enforcement, Kashmir has appealed to the people to discourage profiteering by reporting the same to the concerned department, adding that in case of any complaint, people can contact on toll-free number 18001807011.
