Archery competition under Khelo India concludes

KARGIL, Mar 17: A Zonal-level Archery competition for youth of Sankoo block organized by the Department of Youths Service and Sports Kargil under Khelo India concluded today at Sankoo.
Executive Councillor Social Welfare, Aga Syed Hassan Arman was the chief guest of the event while District Youths Service and sports Officer (DYSSO) Kargil, Muhammed Hussain Rehnuma was the guest of honour besides concerned officers and sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
The EC said that it is overwhelming to witness sporting activities after the halt caused due to restrictions of the Covid-19 situation. He asserted that archery is a traditional sport of Ladakh and youth should learn the skills of the game.
The EC said LAHDC Kargil is committed to promoting youth and sports infrastructure in Kargil and all efforts will be made to promote traditional and other sports in the district.
DYSSO Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma said that the department is committed to promote and boost sporting activities across the district and in this regard various initiatives have been taken from time to time.
Pertinently, 172 boys and girls under various age groups such as under 19, 17 and 14 from different schools participated in the archery tournament.
In the under 19 age group, Govt. Higher Secondary School Trespone bagged the Gold, while in under 17, boys category Thasgam Higher Secondary bagged the Gold.
Moreover, in the under 17 girls category, the Gold was won by Higher Secondary School Sangrah, while High School Takait remained as runner up.
Similarly, in the under 14 boys category, Middle School Patto emerged winner and Government Middle School Takait bagged the runner-up position.
