New Delhi, Aug 21: India’s Monjam Kabita Devi bagged bronze medal in the Judo event of the second Asian Youth Games 2013 in China.
Judo Federation of India (JFI) general secretary Man Mohan Jaiswal today said in a statement that Monjam Kabita Devi won the Bronze medal in below 44Kg weight category in the mega event held from August 14-19 at Nanjing.
“Eight member Indian Youth Judo team (3 boys, 3 girls and 2 coaches) participated in the 2nd Asian Youth Games 2013. Virender Singh and Surinder Singh were accompanied the Indian team as Coaches,” the statement read.
This is second international medal of Kabita, as she had also won Silver in the 4th Asian Youth Judo Championships held in Bangkok in 2010.
In the national level, Kabita is the Champion in her below 44Kg weight category since 2009.
She won gold medal in Sub-Junior national 2008-09, at Uttarakhand, 2009-10 at MP and gold medal in the Junior National 2011-12 at Agra, UP. (UNI)
