JAMMU, Aug 23: Army Family Welfare Organization (AFWO) celebrated its 48th anniversary at White Knight Corps, Nagrota, today.
Army Family Welfare Organisation is a voluntary organisation, which works towards welfare of wives of serving soldiers and widows of gallant soldiers, who have laid down their lives during the course of their duties in guarding the frontiers of the Nation.
The organisation works towards empowerment of families of soldiers by providing them avenues for development of skills in Vocational Training Centres.
As a precursor, a Sahaj Yog Meditation workshop was held for two days aimed at coping with stress in daily life. Competitions were also organised for the ladies to exhibit their skills.
On the occasion, Rashmi Hooda, Regional President, Family Welfare Organisation, conveyed her greetings to all the members and complemented them for their achievements.
She advised them to empower themselves by imbibing skills which can be acquired by undergoing various courses conducted at the White Knight Vocational Training Centre.
A lecture on issues relating to women’s health was also held on the occasion, which was followed by a quiz competition.
Later, awards were given to ladies, who made significant contribution to Army Family Welfare Organisation. Veer Naris were also honoured on the occasion as mark of respect for the supreme sacrifice made by their husbands for the country.
