POONCH, Aug 23: The Divisional Level Inter-District Hockey Tournament for Under-14 and Under-19 boys and girls was inaugurated by Makhan Lal Sharma, Principal Government Boys Higher Secondary School, here today.
4 districts of Jammu division are participating in this 2-day tournament, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the supervision of DYSSO Poonch.
On day-1, Jammu thrashed Kathua by five goals to one (5-1) in Under-19 boys, with Manpreet Singh and Balmeet Singh scoring 3 and 2 goals respectively, while in another match of Under-14 boys, Jammu defeated Rajouri by three goals to nil (3-0). Gagandeep Singh pelted 2 goals, while Pawandeep Singh netted one goal for Jammu.
The matches were officiated by Pawan Kumar, Mantinterpal Singh, Rajinder Singh, Vijay Kumar, Gurmeet Singh, Ruchika Sharma and Kulwant Singh.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were SAI hockey coach Sham Lal Sharma, Nazir Charak, Mohd Qasim and Narinder Singh.
