JAMMU, Aug 23: All J&K Mechanical Engineering Association (JKMEA), Jammu has urged upon the Government to create two posts of Chief Engineers (Hyd/ Mech), one each in Jammu and Srinagar and fill up 85 posts of Junior Engineers Mechanical (Grade-I), which have already been created by Government.
In a meeting of the Association held here today at MED Complex Bikram Chowk here under the chairmanship of R K Kohli, the members including president Ajay Khajuria, T R Sharma (VP) and others pointed out that these 85 posts of JEs Mechanical were created by the Government vide order No. 370-PW (Hyd) of 2011, but these posts have not been filled up so far. Due to shortage of staff, the work is being affected in many divisions.
The members strongly demanded creation of two posts of Hydraulic Chief Engineers Mechanical in J&K, one each in Kashmir and Jammu. They also demanded promotion against the available posts of AEs (Mech), AEEs and Executive Engineers (Mech) lying vacant in the department since long by maintaining quota of Degree/ Diploma at each level, regularization of engineers of all cadre and creation of Mechanical Divisions in the newly created districts.
