28th Men Free Style Wrestling C’ship inaugurated

JAMMU, Mar 30: Two days long 28th Men Free Style, Greco Roman Style and 14th Women Senior J&K Wrestling Championship-2021 as well as Cadet (Under-17) Sub-Junior J&K UT Wrestling Championship, organized by Wrestling Association of J&K, inaugurated at Wrestling Hall University of Jammu, here today.
The championship is being organised under the auspices of Wrestling Federation of India, J&K Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association.
Alok Kumar-Principal Secretary Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest on the opening ceremony, while Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma president J&K Olympic Association, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, president J&K Rifle Association, Ashok Singh Divisional Sports Officer J&K Sports Council were guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Alok Kumar encouraged the young talent and gave their best wishes to the participating wrestlers and congratulated the organizers.
The welcome address was presented by Dushyant Sharma, former International Wrestler of India who brefed the gathering about the activities recently held and organized by the Association of J&K. He also presented a brief note about the J&K UT Junior Wrestling team which is going to Patna Bihar for participation in ongoing Junior National Wrestling Championship.
Large numbers of prominent citizens including former wrestlers and office bearers of the Association including Vijay Pahalwan, Raju Sharma, Dheeraj Sharma, Sajad Ahmed, Nisar Ahmed, Om Parkash, Krishan Singh, Ravinder Kumar and Anil Kumar were also present.
A total of 110 senior wrestlers participated from all the districts of Union Territory along with J&K Police Central Sports Wrestling team and 70 wrestlers in the sub-junior category participated in the championship.
