Wadhkhi Warriors Maharashtra, Rajasthan Club script wins

JAMMU, Aug 25: Wadhkhi Warriors Maharashtra and Rajasthan Club registered convincing victories over their rivals in the All India 1st Jammu and Kashmir Friendship Cricket Cup for Peace, which got underway at University Grounds, here today.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Farooq Khan, Director Sher-e-Kashmir Academy of Police was the chief guest on the occasion, while advocate Ahtshyam Bhat was the guest of honour and Rajan Sharma, Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council was the special guest.
Earlier, in the first match, batting first, Boys Cricket Club Kolkata scored a modest total of 100 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Krishan Jha (22) and Shoaib Alam (12) were the main contributors. For Maharashtra, Ashok took 2 wickets, while Pawan claimed one.
In reply, Maharashtra chased the target in 17.5 overs by losing 6 wickets, thus won the match by 4 wickets.
In another match, Rajasthan Club defeated Galaxy Club by a narrow margin of 11 runs in a close contest. Batting first, Rajasthan Club scored 94 runs in the allotted 16 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Mohit scored magnificent 50 runs, while Sourav contributed 19 runs to the total.
Galaxy Club, in reply managed to score 83 runs in the stipulated overs by losing 9 wickets, thus lost the match by 11 runs. Sawan was the top scorer with 25 runs. For Rajasthan Club, Sandeep and Rahul claimed 2 wickets each.
The matches were officiated by Mohd Rafi of Rajasthan and Rajinder Singh of Jammu as umpires, while Waseem Raja was the scorer, while the tournament is being organized by the Young Star Cricket Club, Doda, under the overall supervision of its patron, Manzoor Ahmed Batt.
