JAMMU, Apr 4: The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena (DF&SS) under the leadership of its president, Ashok Gupta today took out a rally demanding fixing of prices of vegetable, fruit during and other essential commodities during the Navratras as people are bearing the brunt of high prices.
Addressing the protestors, Ashok Gupta said the vegetables which are used as basic staple during Navratras are being sold on exorbitant prices which has resulted as big blow for the common man. He said the rate of lemon is Rs 260 in the market while potatoes are sold at Rs 60 per kg.
The women workers of the party carried the vegetables on their heads stating that the prices have gone out of their reach.
The party president stated that the administration should fix the prices of the vegetables and the price index should be issued in the morning every day so that the common man can be safeguarded from the inflated prices of the commodity.
He further stated that during Ramzan the prices of mutton and chicken are fixed which saves the customer from inflation and the same should be done in case of vegetables as well.
The party activists who participated in the protest were Ashish, Krishna, Nanki, Bhajo Devi, Sushma, Labba, Sampuran, Kala, Naresh, Janki and many others.
