SRINAGAR, Aug 25: 11 students were injured while crossing a bridge on way back to their home from school in Achabal area of district Anantnag.
Reports said the bridge connecting about 20 feet wide water canal collapsed as the students of a Government High School, Vesses were crossing it.
The bridge was already damaged due to floods but the administration did not repair it.
“The accident would not have happened had the authorities repaired it on time,” said a resident Sajad Ahmad.
Among the injured, a girl, Seerat Jan of Class 9 of Vesses was referred to District Hospital Anantnag for treatment.
