Jammu, Aug 25: Natrang staged a new Hindi Play ‘Shayad’ in its Sunday Theatre Series today. The play has been written by Mohan Rakesh, one of the most celebrated playwrights of Indian Theatre and was directed by Neeraj Kant. The studio theatre of Natrang appeared to be the most appropriate space for the performance of such sensitive plays where audiences had a very wonderful experience of watching intimate theatre.
‘Shayad’, is the most relevant title given by Mohan Rakesh to this play as it reflects uncertainties and mirages of life. The play opens in a room of a middle-aged couple who were married seven years back but are living a very bland life. They have lost interest in each other rather in their own selves. They are not derived by any motivation to be happy from the core of their heart as everything seems to be very usual to them. Where wife is all busy in her daily chores, she finds no excitement in doing anything and ironically she sees no hope to be happy in future also. The husband also is engulfed in his own dilemma, he cribs for everything he does not have but could not see delight in what he has. They both live together but they live in two different worlds which are not in synchronization with each other. The play appeared to carry a very vast and universal problem of the modern world where people have forgotten how to live in the struggle of life and the beauty of the play is that it will become more and more relevant with the passing times.
Mohit Sharma and Subha Rajput both accomplished actors of Natrang performed their respective characters brilliantly. Uplaksh Singh Kotwal operated the Lights and Ashwani Bali scored the Music. Sets were designed by Sushil Raina and Mohd. Yaseen. The show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma. Sajra Qadir did the presentations.
