JAMMU, Apr 5: The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized a scintillating event, ‘Colours of Music’ today.
The event featured eminent singers of JKUT and alumni of ‘Display Your Talent’ contest of JU, who included Mukteshi Sharma, Narinder Wazir and Sonali Dogra.
Today’s event was attributed in honour of Prof Manoj K Dhar, who has completed his term as the Vice-Chancellor, JU. He was also felicitated on the occasion. Those who attended the programme included Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar; Prof Jasbir Singh, Controller of Examination; Prof. Satnam Kaur, Director, DDE; Prof Vinay Chauhan, Dean Placement; Prof Alka Sharma, Prof Rakesh Vaid, teachers, officers, staff, students and scholars of the University.
While addressing the gathering, Prof Manoj Dhar, nostalgically remembered his journey in the University of Jammu which he started as student and with consistency and commitment, he got the privilege to lead the institution as Vice-Chancellor. He expressed gladness over bidding adieu as the Vice-Chancellor amid such a wonderful cultural programme which would remain in his cherished memories forever.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof Prakash Antahal highlighted some of the prominent initiatives undertaken during the past few years by the University under the leadership of Prof Manoj Dhar.
Dr Mukteshi Sharma appropriately started the cultural programme with classical and Ghazal rendition which gave the evening a befitting take-off. She was followed by vibrant Bollywood numbers by Narinder Wazir who mesmerized the audience with his charisma. Sonali Dogra, with her soulful voice and power-packed performance propelled the programme to its crescendo. Accomplished musicians who accompanied the singers included Ashutosh Magotra, Neeraj Verma, Sham Bhardwaj, Kartik, Vishal, Zahid and Johnny.
Prof Vishav Raksha presented the formal vote of thanks. The event was organized under the stewardship of Prof Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof Vishav Raksha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof Sanjana Kaul, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof B K Bajaj (Associate Dean SW), Dr Garima Gupta & Dr Pritam Singh (Assistants Deans SW) and members of Campus Cultural Committee. Mansi Mantoo, Media Officer and Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor coordinated the event.
