Srinagar : “A constable of Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed by militants in South Kashmir this afternoon”, the Deputy Inspector General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Vijay Kumar told Excelsior.
“The SOG personnel were on a normal patrol in village Arwani when militants fired on a cop killing him on the spot. Our men didn’t fire as it was a busy market place”, Kumar said.
“The area has been cordoned off and hunt to nab the militant responsible for the cop killing has been launched”, the officer said.
The cop has been identified as Salamatullah Khan of Uri.
