SRINAGAR, Aug 27: The Department of Youth Services and Sports is organizing State level Inter-District Football Championship for under-19 boys at Srinagar which was inaugurated by the Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Aggarwal in an impressive function held at Bakhshi Stadium, here today.
The officers of the Department of Youth Services and Sports alongwith organizing staff attended the inauguration ceremony.
The tournament in which 234 student players from 13 districts of the State are taking part is being played on league-cum-knock out basis.
In today’s matches, District Srinagar beat Doda by (10-0), while Jammu thrashed Kargil (10-0) in a one sided contest. In another one-sided contest, Baramulla got better of Samba by (11-1) and Udhampur beat Kathua in a tough contest by (3-2).
Eight league matches are scheduled for tomorrow, while the semifinals and the final of the tournament will be played on August 29, 2013.
