SS Jain Sabha celebrates Mahavir Jayanti

JAMMU, Apr 14: SS Jain Sabha through its educational wing Shree Mahavir Jain Higher Secondary School celebrated Mahavir Jayanti by organising a function at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium here on the auspicious occasion of Bhagwan Mahavir Janm Kalyanak, today.
The children of Jain Samaj as well as students of Jain School participated enthusiastically and depicted different aspects of Bhagwan Mahavir’s preaching which was enacted in innovative ways so that children are able to incorporate the preaching in their day to day life.
The main attractions of the program were depiction of Dewan Todarmal Jain’s sacrifice when he purchased world’s costliest real estate ever to perform last rites of two sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji from Aurangzeb.
On this occasion, Ayurveda Center in association with Ayush Department of J&K launched a campaign by the name “Kayotsarg-Ang Daan, Jeevan Daan” to encourage everyone to donate eyes and other parts of the body after death.
Justice J&K High Court, Rajneesh Oswal, was the chief guest on this occasion. Justice Oswal praised the community for always being in the forefront for helping the downtrodden and always standing with the nationalist forces. He said that Jain Samaj in spite of being just 0.4 percent of India’s population contributes handsomely in all the charitable projects being run in the country.
JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta also addressed the gathering and congratulated the community on this auspicious occasion. He assured that he is always there for all sorts of help for the development of the community.
A detailed presentation of different wings of Jain Society was also presented before the members and the progress made by Jain School was also briefed including Shri Jeev Daya Society which runs free Ayurveda clinic from the last 120 years and Jain Shilp Kala Kendra which helps young women to stand on their feet by making them capable to earn by imparting them training in different fields like stitching, cooking and others.
Anand Jain IPS, Director ACB J&K presided over the function and emphasized that principles of Jainism should be adopted by everyone, while the event was graced by Dr Mohan Singh Director Ayush J&K, Dr Gautam Menghi Prantadhyaksh RSS, Arun Gupta president CCI, Rahul Sahai Chairman PHDCCI, Rajesh Jain, Chairman Federation of Industries and others.
The event was coordinated by general secretary of SS Jain Sabha, Sandeep Jain, while president Pankaj Jain presented a formal vote of thanks.
