Surya Udhay Partap wins Silver in National C’ship

JAMMU, Apr 16: J&K Wrestler, Surya Udhay Partap Singh shine in 48 kg weight category and clinched Silver medal in Under-17 (Cadet) Boys Freestyle National Wrestling Championship at Ranchi (Jharkhand) today.
The championship will culminate tomorrow wherein the J & K Wrestling team consisting of nine wrestlers as well as two officials are taking part. Surya Udhay Partap Singh has reached the finals after defeating his weight category wrestlers from different States/UTs of the country.
In the final bout, Surya Udhay Partap Singh faced Maharashtra’s wrestlers namely Rohan but unfortunately, he lost to his opponent and won Silver medal for J&K. “It was the first time after 36 years, a wrestler from J & K entered in the final. In 1986, the 1st Gold medal for J&K was won by Dushyant Sharma in the Sub-Junior National Wrestling Championship, held at Pune (Maharashtra),” the statement read as.
The president of Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Saran Singh congratulated Dushyant Sharma, president Wrestling Association of J&K and Ajay Vaid secretary general Wrestling Association of J&K for this achievement.
