WASHINGTON, Aug 28: Endorsing South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in her re-election bid, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has said that his Indian-American Republican colleague is one of the greatest conservative leaders of the country.
“One of this nation’s greatest conservative leaders is, my friend, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley,” Jindal said in an email message to his supporters asking them to support Haley who is seeking to be re-elected as Governor of South Carolina.
Haley, 41, currently is the youngest governor of the US. She kicked-off her re-election bid in the presence of Jindal and Republican Governors from Texas and Wisconsin on Monday.
“I was honoured to spend yesterday in South Carolina with Governors Rick Perry and Scott Walker, and Senator Tim Scott to help Nikki launch her re-election campaign,” Jindal said, adding he is committed to raising funds for her re-election.
He urged them to support her campaign with a contribution of USD 20 or more.
“The Republican Party needs strong leaders like Nikki who offer conservative, free market solutions to the problems facing our nation,” he said.
“In her first term, Nikki has announced new jobs in 45 of 46 South Carolina counties and moved 18,000 people from welfare to work. She fought the expansion of Obamacare, passed tort reform, stopped tax increases, and eliminated wasteful spending,” Jindal argued.
“Liberal Democrats continue to make false attacks against Nikki, but I’m here to tell you Nikki Haley is a rock-solid conservative leader we all need to support,” he said.
Haley yesterday thanked her supporters for “the amazing support for” her re-election bid in November 2014 elections. (PTI)
