JAMMU, Apr 17: J&K Oil Industry comprising IOC, BPC and HPC under the flag of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) organized ‘Saksham Cyclothon’ wherein cyclists from all age groups participated.
The ‘Cyclothon’ was flagged off by chief guest, Deepak Digra, Deputy Commandant IRP 24th Battalion in presence of Anjani Kumar, State level Co-coordinator cum DGM (RS) IOCL from Indian Oil Divisional Office with an objective to make the citizens aware about the need of conservation of petroleum products as well as motivating people to move towards cleaner alternatives such as cycling.
“As the petroleum products are scarce in nature, so through this event youth is also made aware about the “sustainable management of resources”, said Deepak Digra during his brief on the importance of oil conservation.
He particularly emphasized on using helmets and other safety kits for safety while riding bicycles, while Anjani Kumar also briefed the gathering about how excessive use of petroleum products is causing damage to the environment and raising other alarming issues like global warming
Rakesh Roshan, Senior Manager Indian Oil Corporation has informed the gathering that the awareness programme which was inaugurated on April 11 under the title ‘Saksham-2022 (Sanrakshan Kshmata Mahotsav)’ will conclude on April 30.
He further briefed about various activities to be observed during this 20 days ‘Saksham Campaign’ which will include painting, essay competitions in schools, workshops for drivers, mechanics, LPG panchayat and workshop for motor mechanics etc.
Senior Cyclists from Jammu Cyclist Club also shared their views and thanked Indian Oil Management for organizing this event.
The rally passed through various areas of Jammu city and finally culminated at Indian Oil Petrol Pump Nagrota Bypass.
