DDC reviews Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan Action Plan

SAMBA, Aug 28: In order to release the first installment of Grant-in-Aid under Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA)  to the Panchayats for the current year, District Development Commissioner Samba R.K Verma  convened a meeting of district and sectoral officers in Samba.
The meeting was attended by the District Panchayat Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare officer/ Nodal Officer ICDS, Executive Engineer, PHE Division Samba/Kathua.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC briefed the objectives of the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan and said that its main objective is to accelerate the sanitation coverage and bring about an improvement in the   quality of life in the rural areas. He directed the District Panchayat Officer and others   to pay focused attention on the construction of individual Household Latrines and also create awareness about the benefit of the scheme among the general masses by involving the Sarpanchs and Panchs.
Later, District Development Commissioner, R. K. Varma visited flood affected areas of the district and took on the spot assessment of the destruction and damage caused to   land and property of the people of the area due to flash floods triggered by recent rainfall.
The DDC, accompanied by   AC(R), ACD and BDO, Sarpanchs, Panch visited Kaloha, Bindupadah and adjoining areas of  the district   where rain and flood has caused extensive damage in last few days.
The locals apprised the DDC about various problems caused by the incessant rains and flash floods. The DDC directed the concerned officers to restore the essential services like damaged road links, PHE and electricity   hit due to flood and rains.
He also directed the concerned departments to work on war footing to provide relief to the affected people. He impressed upon the officers to ensure  accurate assessment of the damage so that the affected could be compensated accordingly with the involvement of Panchs, Sarpanchs, Lambardar. He also assured that the basic facilities would be restored on war footing and the affected families would be provided adequate relief.
