JAMMU, Apr 20: Former Vice-Chairperson, J&K SC, ST, BC, Development Corporation and national secretary of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Vishwa Mahapeeth, Balbir Ram Rattan, during his meeting with Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF), member, Manjit Bali, said that many among the SCs in Jammu and Kashmir are not aware of the schemes of DAF. They should be educated about them and the same need to be extended in full for the benefit of the community.
Balbir Ram Rattan, alongwith J&K Guru Ravi Dass, Vishwa Mahapeeth, vice-president, Ashok Gandhi and secretary, Adarsh Kumar, had called on Manjit Bali during his visit to Jammu and held detailed discussions about various schemes of Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, funded by Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Manjit Bali, who is also State president, Guru Ravi Dass Vishwa Mahapeeth, Punjab, shared that DAF works for the betterment of Scheduled Castes. It helps in many ways, which include medical aid, grant of financial help for organizing programmes on the birthdays of great saints of the community and promote inter-caste marriage. It gives aid for heart and brain surgeries, treatment of cancer, kidney dialysis, transplantation and spinal surgery.
He further shared that DAF also provides help to SCs, who suffer social atrocities or loss of properties. The meritorious students belonging to the SC community are also provided overseas and local scholarships for higher education, besides position holders in 10th, 12th levels.
Balbir said that the DAF has been doing great service to the SCs but as far J&K, here people do not have much knowledge of the schemes. DAF should extend its full operations in J&K on mass scale and also educate the people about the same so that more and more SCs are in a position to avail the benefits.
Raj Kumar Jogi, Social Media Incharge, Guru Ravi Dass Vishwa Mahapeeth, Punjab, was also present in the meeting.
