Prof Koushalya Wali passes away

JAMMU, Aug 29: Dr Koushalya Wali, former HoD Department of Sanskrit University of Jammu and former president of Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Ambphalla breathed her last today after a prolonged illness at her residence at Rajinder Nagar here.
Her cremation took place at Shakti Nagar Cremation ground this afternoon. A large number of people including renowned Sanskrit scholar and an authority on Shaivism, Dr Ved Kumari Ghai, Prof A N Sadhu, KPS president, K K Khosa and its members were prominent among them.
Prof Wali was also Dean of faculty of Arts University of Jammu. A great scholar of international repute, she was the first scholar to get D Lit Degree in Sanskrit. She was also a great researcher of Shaivism and had also remained a member of University syndicate.
Dr Koushalya Wali a well known religious and social activist had remained president of KPS Jammu from 1989-1994 and rendered a great service to community during earlier period of exile. A large number of people including scholars and heads of various social and religious organizations have expressed their profound grief over her untimely demise and recalled her contributions to the society as a whole.
