Kotwal reviews NRDWP, Water & Sanitation Mission

SAMBA, Aug 30: With a view to ensure effective implementation of District Water and Sanitation Mission in the District, Commissioner Secretary PHE, I&FC department, Dr. Pawan Kotwal today chaired a meeting of concerned district and sectoral officers.
DDC Samba R.K Varma gave a presentation about the District Water and Sanitation Mission along with district profile.
During the meeting, various aspects of the mission and function and responsibilities  of the District Water and Sanitation Mission Committee, scrutiny and approval of the schemes submitted by the Village Water and Sanitation committees, sensitizing the public representatives, officials and the general public regarding the National Rural Drinking Water Project and the management of schemes of Water and Sanitation, coordination of matters relating to water and sanitation between district representatives of Health, Education ,forests, Agriculture, Rural Development to converge the NRDWP with other national programmes such as National Rural Health MISSION, Total Sanitation Mission, Sarva  Shikhsha Abhiyan Integrated Child Development Scheme were discussed in detail.
Among others who attended the meeting were Superintending Engineer (Hydraulic), CMO, CAO, DSWO, DPO, Executive Engineer (Civil), Executive Engineer, PHE Mechanical and I&FC.
Later, Dr. Kotwal also visited the flood affected areas of Samba Barota (BSF Nursery camp) and took on the spot assessment of the destruction and damage caused to land and property of the people besides inspecting Thalore Check Dam.
