Maj Ranveer conferred with Tensing Norgay award

JAMMU, Sept 1: Major Ranveer Singh Jamwal, who belongs to village Badhori in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir was conferred with Tensing Norgay National Adventure Award by the President of India on Saturday.
He is the first individual from Jammu region to be conferred this prestigious national award.
Born on December 26, 1975, Maj Ranveer Singh Jamwal is active in mountaineering since 2004. In a very less time, Maj Ranveer has made a name in the field of mountaineering by climbing more than 20 peaks in India and abroad.
He is also the first person from J&K to have summitted Mount Everest twice and that too in a span of less than one year. He led the Army Women Everest Team in 2012 and then again in 2013, he led the joint Indo-Nepal Army Everest Expedition.
Apart from this, Maj Ranveer has also climbed  Killimanjaro, the highest peak of African continent, Aconcagua, the highest peak of South American continent, two peaks in Europe (Switzerland) and technically very difficult peaks Mana and Trishul in India.
In recognition of his fearless leadership and outstanding contribution towards the field of mountaineering, Maj Ranveer Singh Jamwal is the proud recipient of Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award in land adventure.
