DSMH holds drug de-addiction prog

SRINAGAR, Sept 2: Drug De-addiction Centre and Stress Management Helpline conducted an awareness programme in S.P Higher Secondary School, Srinagar, on the alarming statistics of drug abuse in Kashmir in which over 200 students participated in this programme.
A team of DSMH comprising Dr. Siddrah, Haris Abrar (social worker), Imran Khan and Insha Hassan (counselors) met with the students, and spoke about the alarming statistics of drug abuse in Kashmir, types of drug being abused, causes of drug abuse and medical and psycho-social treatment.
The team elaborated on the mental health aspects of student population, especially stress related to examination, coping strategies and how mal-adaptive coping leads to drug abuse, depression and suicidal tendencies.
