SRINAGAR, Sept 2: Jammu and Kashmir Police is upgrading its building infrastructure to provide better working and living facilities to its personnel. Various office and residential accommodations have been constructed across the State to strengthen the building infrastructure under the modernization scheme.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad, while commissioning the Model Police Station building at Harwan today. He said that in view of the increasing responsibilities, the Organization has been focusing to upgrade the working conditions for its personnel as per the latest requirements. Constructions are made keeping in mind the modern facilities and techniques of construction, he added.
Mr. Prasad appreciated the efforts of the officers and engineers of Police Hosing Corporation (PHC) and Police Construction Division (PCD) for ensuring quality material and time bound construction of the buildings. He asked them to keep in mind weather scenario of the particular area before finalizing the plans of construction in that area. He said that the constructions should be equipped with latest facilities of living and working including recreational facilities for the personnel, who are always found busy facing tough situations. Proper supervision by the senior officers would make performance more fruitful, said the DGP.
Before commissioning the building, the DGP was briefed by ADGP Headquarters, S.P. Vaid and Executive Engineer PCD, N. D. Khawaja about the construction of the Police Station Building. He was told that the two storied building was constructed by PCD within one year at a cost of Rs. 1 crore and is having hostel facilities and residential quarters. It would help to provide better policing to the people with quick response, overlooking the tourist resort. Earth quake resistant column structure has been utilized in the construction as per the prescribed norms. The multi- storey building has been completed within stipulated time, the DGP was informed. They assured that all the constructions would be completed within the time frame. DGP also discussed the pace of progress achieved on other works presently under execution in Kashmir Division.
The DGP was accompanied by Additional Directors General of Police P. L. Gupta, D. R. Doley and Dilbag Singh, Inspectors General of Police Dr. B. Srinivas, A. K. Choudhary, Deepak Kumar, Abdul Ghani and Dr. K.K. Saini, DIGs AK Atri and S. A. Mujtaba, SSP Srinagar, SAH Bukhari and other senior police officers.
