JAMMU, Sept 5: The medal winning game of roller skating has made inroads in District Kathua as it is for the first time in the history of roller skating competitions, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports that Divisional Level Inter-District Competitions were held, wherein apart from Jammu district, the skaters from District Kathua participated with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit.
In their maiden entry in the Inter-District Competitions, the skaters from Kathua fought hard and sweated-it-out to vie for the top honours.
Though, they failed to claim any medal in this prestigious competition, yet they succeeded in making an impression in the event, wherein ace skaters of District Jammu participated.
“No-doubt, it was an uphill task for skaters from Kathua to win medals in the competitions, where they had to face the likes of ace skaters in Ishita Singh, Nikita Thakur and Manvi Jaggi etc. However, the way our skaters performed was more than satisfactory and we hope that we can produce good results in near future,” said Incharge of Kathua skating contingent.
“Performing in the competitions in Kathua is a different thing and competing with outstanding skaters in Jammu will go a long way in helping us to shape our future in this sport,” said one of the skaters from Kathua.
The event was held at MA Stadium Road, Jammu to pick the team for the forthcoming Inter-Division Competitions and thereby selecting the team for National School Games to be held under the banner of School Games Federation of India.
