UDHAMPUR, May 31: Wrestler Ajay Sharma of Udhampur lifted 58th Annual Amar Nath Maha Dangal title by defeating Vikas of Haryana in a tough fight at Subash Stadium, here today.
The dangal was organized by Amar Nath Maha Dangal Samiti in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of chairman Amar Nath Maha Dangal Samiti, Gita Devi and vice president of the Association, Varinder Badyal.
President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma was the chief guest who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runner-ups in presence of Councillor Vikram Salathia and Councillor Preeti Khajuria who graced the event as guests of honour.
Winner of 1st malli bout, Ajay Sharma was awarded with cash prize of Rs 6000 along with traditional “Gurj (Gadda) and Patta” by the chief guest, while runner-up wrestler Vikas was awarded with Rs 5000.
The second main bout was won by Muneer Khan of Nagrota by defeating Bablu of Basantgarh, while 3rd bout was won by Dilar Khan of J&K Police who defeated Sachin of Delhi and 4th bout was secured by Reetak of Delhi by defeating Rajesh Sharma of J&K Police as well as 5th bout was clinched by Salman of Choprashop by defeating Bhatti of UP.
Prittam of Reasi beat Sunil of Kawa, Sunil of Udhampur trounced Rajinder of Reasi, Ajay of Roun Domail defeated Shota Benia of J&K Police, Karnail Singh of Reasi beat Raj of Samba and Arjun of Jammu trounced Shubam of Delhi.
Prominent persons including President awardee, Swantanter Dev Kotwal, Manager Subash Stadium Udhampur Navin Sharma, Retd AEE Vinod Sharma, Chaman Lal Kalotra, Kailash Thakur, Om Parkash Verma and many others were present during the event.
