JAMMU, June 3: A delegation of All J&K Oil and LPG Tank, Truck Drivers & Cleaners Union led by its president, S. Ranjit Singh met Manzoor Mir, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir.
Surinder Singh, Devinder Singh and S. Harasis Singh—all senior members of the Union were also present in the delegation and the meeting took place in the presence of field staff members of traffic police including local Dy.SP and DTIs.
The delegation apprised the traffic police authorities about the issues faced by drivers and cleaners of the Petrol/Diesel and LPG carrying vehicles at Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and also in different districts of Kashmir.
The Union president informed the SSP about harassment faced by fuel carrying vehicles during the movement of convoys at Jammu-Srinagar National Highway wherein these drivers are even roughed up many times.
The delegation raised the issue of no designated halt points for the fuel carrying vehicles.
A hand out claimed that the SSP conceded the demand of the Union regarding free passage to fuel carrying tankers and LPG trucks to lower Munda in Kashmir without any restriction.
He also assured to address other genuine grievances in a time bound manner.
