120 kg of poppy straw recovered from truck, Heroin seized from drug peddler

UDHAMPUR, June 10: In its drive against drug peddling, Udhampur Police today recovered 120 kg of contraband poppy straw from a truck in Chenani and also seized 10.4 grams of Heroin from a drug peddler at Tikri.
The truck bearing registration number JK13B-4656, was intercepted by a Police party at Motorshed Naka on the National Highway in Chenani. During search, Police detected in a tool box inside the truck in which five bags containing 120 kg of poppy straw was recovered.
However taking the advantage of heavy traffic on the road, truck driver fled away from the spot. In this regard, a case FIR number 99/2022 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in PS Chenani and further investigation is underway.
The naka party was headed by SHO PS Chenani inspector Om Parkash under the supervision of Addl. SP Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq and SDPO Chenani Ahmed Shaafi.
Meanwhile, a Police party of PP Tikri, led by Incharge Police Post, Abdul Sattar, apprehended a drug peddler who was riding a motor bike JK14H- 6721 . During search of the rider, identified as Rakesh Kumar alias Raki, son of Chuni Lal of Nelli Nala Udhampur, Police recovered 10.40 grams of contraband Heroin like substance from his possession.
Police arrested the accused person on the spot and registered a case FIR number 138/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act in PS Rehambal.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar.
