JAMMU, June 10: All the elected District Football Associations (DFAs) of Jammu province along with 48 Football Clubs and senior most members of the Association have unanimously decided to boycott the proposed election of executive committee of J&K Football Association (JKFA), scheduled to be held at Srinagar on June 12.
It was disclosed by the former treasure of JKFA, Surinder Singh Bunty along with senior members during a press conference, held here wherein he levelled serious allegations of bungling in the voter list, nepotism and manipulation in the working of the incumbent body of the Association.
They blamed that the Kashmir based office bearers of the Association are playing a regional bias and deliberately spoiling the game in Jammu region. “There is deliberate attempt by these vested interests to damage the Football in Jammu in every manner be it allocation of funds, selection of players for national and Zonal events or the infrastructure development and now, the preparation of voters list,” they alleged.
Bunty further said that various attempts were made from time to time to provide equal opportunities to the players of both the regions but they always sabotaged the cause of Jammu and made the Association a ‘Private Limited Company’ for their own business benefits. “For the last three years, not a single penny has been allocated to the Jammu region, while a lot of activities were organised in Kashmir,” Bunty alleged.
The members also express concern over the deletion of 11 oldest Football Clubs from the lists and inclusion of seven new clubs in the voter lists of DFA Jammu by the unauthorised persons violating norms of the Constitution of JKFA. “A representation was made before the general secretary regarding the issue in the month of May and later, the same issue was raised before the Returning Office, Muzaffar Jan (Retd. Justice) but nothing has been done by them so far,” they said.
They also raised the issue of misappropriation of funds by the Kashmir based office bearers in the Mufti Mohammed Sayed Memorial Tournament.
Veteran footballers including Kuldeep Singh, Ramesh Chander, Mohan Lal, Festus Sotra and others were present during the media briefing.
