UDHAMPUR, Sept 12: Police today rescued four bovine animals and arrested the smuggler at Tikri, Udhampur.
Reports said that a Police party, led by Incharge PP Tikri, Sub Inspector Nishant Gupta, laid a surprise naka on the National Highway near Tikri in the wee hours and intercepted a Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK02AG-2242.
Four bovine animals were found loaded in the said vehicle, which was on way from Jammu to Kashmir. All the bovine animals were rescued and driver of the vehicle, identified as Manzoor Ahmed of Barnote, tehsil Ramban was arrested on the spot. The vehicle used for the bovine smuggling, was also seized.
Police has registered a case in this connection at Rehmbal Police Station.
