Kathua police rescues 33 bovines, seizes 2 trucks, arrests bovine smuggler

KATHUA, June 22: District Police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal today foiled bovine smuggling bid, rescued 33 bovines, arrested one bovine smuggler and seized two vehicles involved in illegal transporting of animals.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Amit Sangra SHO Police Station (PS), Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan while on Naka checking duty near NHW Rajbagh Naka point noticed one suspicious truck bearing Registration Number JK02BQ-9787 enrouted from Lakhanpur side towards Jammu. Sensing danger driver of the vehicle managed to fled away from the spot while abandoning the vehicle. On thorough checking, police found 18 bovines which were being transported without any legal permission. All the 18 bovines were rescued and the vehicle was seized. Accordingly a case FIR No. 131/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11/PCA Act was registered at Police Station (PS) Rajbagh and further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
While in the second instance, a police team of PS Lakhanpur led by Inspector, Vijay Kotwal, SHO PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP DAR, Kathua, Sukhdev Singh during routine naka checking duty near New Toll Plaza Lakhanpur noticed the movement of one suspicious truck bearing Registration Number, JK02AE-1686 which was enrouted from Punjab towards J&K UT and was being driven by person namely Shabbir Ahmed son of Hashim Din of Beli Charana tehsil and district Jammu. During checking the police team rescued 15 bovines from the truck which were stealthily hidden under the sacks of Salt. The truck was seized and driver was arrested. All the 15 bovines were rescued. A case vide FIR No. 55/2022 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur and further investigation has been initiated.
