Reasi claims U-14 title; Udhampur lifts U-17, U-19 trophy

JAMMU, Sept 13: Defeating District Jammu in a close contest by 2 points in the summit clash, District Reasi lifted the kho-kho Under-14 girls title trophy, while District Udhampur bagged titles in Under-17 and Under-19 girls kho-kho in the Divisional Level Inter-District Kho-kho Tournament, which concluded at Youth Hostel, Nagrota today.
The Tournament, in which over 250 girls took part, was organized as part of Annual Calendar of Activities by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of Director General, Navin Aggarwal and under the overall supervision of Ved Parkash, Deputy Director.
Earlier, in Under-14 girls final, Reasi defeated Jammu by narrow margin of 2 points (4-2) to claim the title. Chanderkala and Arpita performed well for Reasi and Jammu respectively, while in Under-17 girls final, Udhampur got better of Jammu by 1 point (5-4) to win the title. Anajana Devi scored 3 points for Udhampur, while Shruti scored 2 points for Jammu. In the semifinals, Jammu beat Reasi and Udhampur prevailed over Rajouri.
Meanwhile, in kho-kho Under-19 girls final, Udhampur trounced Reasi in a thrilling contest by one point (5-4). Mehak Rashi was the star performer for Udhampur, scoring 3 points, Sonia Devi scored 3 points for Reasi. Earlier, in the semifinals, Reasi drubbed Samba by 7 points, while Udhampur got better of Jammu by 2 points.
Later, in the valedictory function, Ved Parkash distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
