JAMMU, Sept 16: The Inter-Collegiate Chess Tournament, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu got underway at its Gymnasium, here today.
Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu inaugurated the tournament in an impressive and well attended function.
Earlier, in the men’s section, PG Department defeated MAM College by (4-0), GDC Hiranagar got better of GDC Samba by (3-1), GDC Poonch trounced GDC Reasi by 3-2, GDC Ramnagar got better of IMS Patoli by (3-2), GDC Paloura got walkover against SRS Degree College, GDC Billawar got walkover against GDC Rajouri, GGM Science College got walkover against MIET, New Age College Billawar got walkover against Trikuta Degree College Jammu and GDC Udhampur (Boys) got walkover against GDC Ramban.
In women’s section, GCW Gandhi Nagar got walkover against Commerce College and GCET Jammu got walkover against GDC Thannamandi, while none of the other teams reported at the venue.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Vinod Bakshi, Narayani Jamwal, Balbir Singh Chib, Sumnesh Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, Roshan Lal Sharma, Kailash Singh (Physical Directors), Dinesh Rajput, Sushil Kumar Sawhney, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Gagan Kumar, Ravish Vaid, Nisha Sharma, Sanjeev Jamwal and PD Singh.
