UDHAMPUR, July 22: 13th District Fencing Championship, organised by District Association under the aegis of Ad-hoc Committee J&K Amateur Fencing Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council and District Youth Services and Sports for under-12, 14, 17, 19 and open for both boys and girls, inaugurated at Indoor Hall Subash Stadium, here today.
Suleman Chaudhary, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range was the chief guest who introduced the team and exhorted the participants to play the game earnestly with true sportsmanship, while SSP Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar, Rafiq Mohd ACR Udhampur, Sahil Mahajan DySP HQ Udhampur, Chaman Lal Gorkha SHO Udhampur, Preeti Khajuria, Councillor and Naveen Sharma, Chief Cricket Coach/ Manager were the special guests of the event.
A total of 50 players are taking part in the championship.
In under-12 Sabre boys, top three medals were secured by Trinav, Mohd Ahaan and Sufyan respectively, while under-17, Sabre girls, Samriti won Gold, Ragni secured Silver and Suhani clinched Bronze medal and in under-14 Foil boys, Aryan and Harshit won Gold and Silver medals, while Diyanash and Sahil won Bronze medals.
In under-12 Sabre girls, first three medals were clinched by Adhira, Sanvi and Aradhya respectively.
