Mirza Gladiators, Baba Reshi Lions register easy wins

SRINAGAR, Sept 21: Mirza Gladiators put a terrific bowling show to defend a modest target of 121, beating Ahad Warriors by 50 runs in a low scoring affair of Khyber Downtown Champions League (DCL), here today.
Having scored just 121, Gladiators’ bowlers bundled out Ahad Warriors for just 71 to secure three points from the game.

Chasing a modest target of 122, Ahad Warriors suffered a massive collapse. At one point of time, Warriors were 33 for no loss but eventually folded out for paltry 71 runs.
Imran and Nikhil were the only two batsmen from team Warriors who entered double figures, scoring 23 and 14 runs respectively.
Sameer Bell, who claimed four prized scalps, was adjudged the highest wicket-taker as well as the player of the match. Rafiq and Nazir also bowled well, claiming 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Spinning trio of Sameer, Rafiq and Nazir shared 9 wickets amongst them.
Earlier, Jaleel from Gladiators scored 25 runs, Nadeem 23 while Adil remained unbeaten on 22. For Ahad warriors, Abid Nara claimed three wickets giving away only 30 runs in his quota of four overs.
Earlier in the day Baba Reshi Lions thrashed Pride Riders with a margin of 55 runs in what was a one-sided encounter.
After being put into bat by Pride Riders, the Lions got off to a rollicking start and were 90/0 in first ten overs. The openers’ goodwork was carried by the middle order with Baba Reshi Lions posting 186 /5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.
Imran from BRL was the top scorer with 72 runs for which he was adjudged best batsman of the match. Imran innings included four hits over the fence and won the highest sixes award as well. Obaid and Manzoor chipped in with 26 and 25 runs.
Chasing 187, Pride Riders were rocked back early in the chase and never recovered from that only to be bundled out for 131 in the 17th over. Hashim scored 41 while Omar played a knock of 22.
Manzoor from BRL who had scored 25 runs and later claimed three wickets was adjudged player of the match award.
