JAMMU, Sept 21: Dogra College of Education, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana, Jammu celebrated its 19th Annual Day function in the College Auditorium with pomp and show, here today.
The proceedings of the programme began with the lighting of traditional lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana and the presentation of various cultural items.
Shefali Sharma, Vice Principal Dogra College of Education presented welcome address, which was followed by presentation of annual report by Prof BD Damral, Director-cum- Principal of the College.
The annual report included exemplary academic performance of the students and the participation of the faculty members in various Seminars, Workshops and Conferences.
Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and flood Control was the chief guest on the occasion.
In his address, he stressed upon the role of productive teachers in shaping the personality of the young students in the desired directions.
He also emphasized upon the need and importance of teacher education in order to shape the future destiny of the nation.
RK Verma, Deputy Commissioner, Samba was the guest of honour on the occasion, who while speaking lauded the efforts put in by the management of the college for providing quality education to the inhabitants of this rural area.
The function was presided over by the Gulchain Singh Charak, chairman Dogra Educational Trust.
In his presidential address, Mr Charak advised the students to draw inspiration and benefit themselves from the rich educational environment of the institution in order to attain excellence in the area of teacher education.
Colorful cultural programme including Rajasthani Folk Dance, Dogri Dance, Group Song, Kashmiri Dance and Punjabi Folk Dance (Gidda) was presented by the students of the College on the occasion, which was highly applauded by the audience.
Kr Samar Dev Singh Charak Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, Kr Ghambir Dev Singh Charak, Member Trustee, (DET), Prof Lalita Parihar Director cum Principal Dogra Law College, Dr Shivani Singh Academic Coordinator, Dogra Degree College, SL Kotwal, Principal DIET College and the reputed dignitaries of the locality were also present to grace the occasion.
Prizes and mementoes were also distributed among the outstanding students of the session.
The 8th issue of the annual College Magazine “SHIKSHAK” was also released on the occasion by the chief guest and other luminaries.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Bela Thakur, Academic Coordinator of the College.
