JAMMU, Aug 1: The joy that was seen on the faces of the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the abrogation of Article 370 has vanished into the blue due to the careless attitude of the Government towards public issues for the last three years. Therefore as a result of Government’s anti-people policies being pursued post abrogation Shiv Sena, which observes August 5 as ” Sampuran Vile Divas” Complete Merger Day, has decided not to celebrate the third anniversary of the historic decision this year.
The information was given by the party’s Jammu and Kashmir Unit chief, Manish Sahni during a press conference held at the party’s central office here, today.
Sahni said that the Central Government and the BJP have taken full political advantage of the decision by propagating falsehood to the whole country on the situation in Kashmir. As such the people feel betrayed and have no reason to celebrate with their miseries having multiplied, he added.
Shiv Sena chief said the killing of innocents in Kashmir as part of target killings besides rising unemployment in J&K has destroyed all the happiness due to the despair prevailing among the youth. The fact remains that for the last three years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are waiting for restoration of State status and democratic process that has not happened till date. There are five MPs as the representative of the people of J&K, among whom both the MPs of Jammu division are from the BJP and one is a Union Minister, but despite all this, the voice of Jammu and its issues, including the return of Statehood does not resonate in the Parliament.
“Before 2019, Jammu and Kashmir, which was one of the eight states of the country on prosperity, is now rapidly moving towards poverty. Unemployment remains at its peak in the UT. The candidates waiting for jobs by appearing in various examinations are in great despair due to cancellation of notifications and delay in recruitment.” Sahni said.
