JAMMU, Aug 3: Shri Krishna Cricket Club lifted the Thati Premier League (TPL) title by defeating Baba Surgal Cricket team by 3 wickets, here today.
Anjali Sharma, Sarpanch Lower Jandial Panchayat was the chief guest, while youth leader, Atul Sudan was the guest of honour and former Sarpanch Ravi Verma, BJP youth leader, Naresh Sudan and Panch Kewal Sharma were the special guests of the occasion who distributed the cash awards and trophies to the players.
The Thati Premier League, a knockout Cricket tournament was organised at Thati village by Vishal Sudan, Shubam Narwaliya, Akash Singh, Sahil Sudan and others. The tournament was organized with a motive to educate youth about the ill effect of drugs.
A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament from adjacent Panchayats. Shubham was judged man of the match in the final as match who was also awarded with man of the series for his extraordinary performance during the tournament. Sachin Chib was the leading wicket taker of the tournament.
Atul Sudan while addressing the player emphasised youth to make sports and games as a part of their daily life. He said drug addiction is a new challenge for the youth of J&K which can be defeated only by games and sports. He congratulated the organising team for organising the tournament.
He requested the youth to take a pledge to work against drug menace and appealed to them to guide and counsel the youth and students of their localities towards games and sports.
Sarpanch Anjali Sharma in her address congratulated both the teams and appreciated their team spirit. She said games and sports teach us a lot of qualities including leadership, team spirit etc.
Ex Sarpanch Ravi Verma and Naresh Sudan appealed to the youth to shun drugs and join sports to be a good and responsible citizen.
Vicky Sharma, Mukesh Sudan, Rajinder Sharma, Ajay Dogra, Parshotam, Kishore Sharma, Sushil, Binny were others present during the prize distribution event.
