JAMMU, Sept 22: Duggar Pradesh Party (DPP) remembered Maharaja Hari Singh on his 118th birthday here, today. In this connection a simple but impressive function was organized by the Party.
The DPP described Maharaja a staunch supporter of Indian independence who was victimized by a conspiracy hatched by Pt Nehru & Sheikh Abdullah and they managed to send him in exile to Bombay and he never came back.
Mr Uday Chand, President DPP, who was chaired the gathering said, it was the day when the political & economical slavery of the people of Jammu region started and is still continues.
Mr Chand said, out of more than 500 small & big States in British India, no ruler was thrown out but only Maharaja Hari Singh was forced to leave J&K State to facilitate Sheikh Abdullah rule.
Mohan Singh, secretary general, DPP, while addressing the audience recalled the various social reforms taken by Maharaja and said those evils are still flourishing in democratic system, known as so called peoples rule in J&K.
He said the State of J&K was formed by Maharaja Gulab Singh, the first Dogra ruler but 64 years bad experience in democracy with India in Jammu & Kashmir, the people of Jammu region are being ill treated, discriminated in every sphere, which forced and compelled them to discontinue the unnatural, unholy Union of two regions of altogether different identities, Jammu and Kashmir by forming separate States as were before 1846.
S.Inder Paul Singh, general secretary, DPP said the people friendly policies of Maharaja Hari Singh made proud to all Dogras and he was the first ruler who offered to merge his state in India if Britishers make the country free in 1935 in Golemaze conference in London.
