JU’s Display Your Talent commences

JAMMU, Sept 23: The first phase of the Display Your Talent 2013-14, an Inter-Collegiate/Departmental extravaganza, organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu got underway with the Rangoli Competition, here today.
Lida Singh, First Lady on the Campus inaugurated the contest by lighting the ceremonial Lamp in an impressive function held at Brig  Rajinder Singh Auditorium.
Prof Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs presided over the function.
Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof MPS Ishar also visited the venue and lauded the efforts of the students in conceiving various innovative concepts of Rangoli.
Lida Singh distributed the certificates of participation, four consolation Certificates of Merit alongwith 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes among the students.
Khasbhu Sharma, Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu was adjudged first, while Rimpla Kumari, Department of Commerce clinched 2nd prize and Anjuman Ayoub of Government College for Women, Parade claimed 3rd prize in the event. The certificates of merit were awarded to Aarti Slathia Department of Psychology, Gurpreet Kour Soni, Government MAM College, Sangeeta Shigotra, Department of Environment Science and Sugandha Sharma, Department of Computer Science and Information Technology.
Shubra Kapoor, Sandhra Malhotra and Mukul Malhotra were among the adjudicators, while Dr Megna Dhar was the Teacher Incharge for the Rangoli.
Earlier, Prof NK Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare presented welcome address. Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Co-Chairman, Campus  Cultural Committee  presented  the vote of thanks.
Prof JS Tara, Director Poonch Campus, Prof Jasbir Singh (Provost Hostel), Prof Shailendra Singh Associate Dean (SW), members of Campus Cultural Committee viz. Dr Shallu Sehgal, Dr Madhulika Singh, Dr Vishav Raksha and Dr Sanjay Sharma also attended the Inaugural Ceremony.
Appoorva Jamwal, Secretary Students Cultural Council, conducted the proceedings of the programme and give brief resume of their visit to Sofia (Bulgaria) under Cultural Exchange Programme alongwith Rimpla Kumari.
